  1. This disc provides !NewLook 1.00, an application which provides a new appearance
  2. for the RISC OS 3 desktop. In future versions of RISC OS this is likely to
  3. become the default settings.

  5. For information on how to use !NewLook, select it in the directory display,
  6. click on MENU, move to the submenu entitled 'NewLook', and choose Help on
  7. that menu.

  9. This new look is only recommended for users with hard discs, as loading from
  10. floppy disc is quite cumbersome and the result is aesthetic rather than
  11. functional. Considerable memory is also consumed at run time.

  13. This disc also provides 3D template files for the two applications discs
  14. and the support disc. In order to apply these to your applications, proceed
  15. as follows:

  17. Open your App1 directory on your hard disc.
  18. Open the TemplApp1 directory on this disc.
  19. Click MENU over the TemplApp1 directory, and choose 'Select all'.
  20. Press SELECT over the TemplApp1 directory, and drag all of the selected
  21. applications into the App1 directory. Release SELECT. This will copy
  22. replacement Template files from TemplApp1 into App1.

  24. Repeat this procedure with App2 and TemplApp2.

  26. Repeat this procedure with Support and TemplSupp.

  28. Any applications now started up from these directories should have 3D
  29. dialogue box elements.

  31. !NewLook contains replacement template files for all ROM applications to
  32. give them 3D buttons etc. Loading these does not affect tasks which are
  33. already running (eg. the filer, the task manager). In order to get 3D
  34. dialogue boxes on these you must RMLoad the files BorderUtil and ROMApps3D
  35. from within !NewLook as part of your machine boot sequence, before the
  36. desktop starts up. Choose Help from the directory display menu for more
  37. information on how to do this. After BorderUtil has been loaded do not
  38. reload, reinitialise or RMFaster the window manager.
